Classes Held: Once a week throughout the school year, beginning in September and running through May with a recital before Memorial Day.  Each semester has 15 lessons.

Class Location: Gina's home studio is located near Old Sauk and High Point Road in Madison, WI.  Ann teaches at her home near Watts Rd and Gammon Rd in Madison, WI.

Class Duration and Size:  6-8 children per class.  Sound Beginnings (SB): 30 minutes.
Let's Play Music (LPM): 45, 50 and 55 minutes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year classes.

Parent Participation: A parent attends every other class with the LPM student, or EVERY class with the SB student.  Siblings are not allowed in LPM class.  Younger siblings may register to attend the SB class.  (During the second and third year of LPM, parents attend only every fourth class.)

LPM Tuition: $400 for the first year of LPM.  You may opt to make 8 installments of $50(Tuition for the 2nd year is $440, tuition for the third year is $480).  When you register, you buy a seat for the entire year and are expected to continue for the entire year.

SB Tuition: $120/semester for the student (or $30/month for 4 months).  The monthly rate for a second child who also attends is $25/month (age 2-4) or $15/month (age 0-2).

Tuition Due: An installment is due at the first class of each month. We highly recommend your bank's auto-pay OR simply pay in full for the year to reduce hassle.

LPM Materials Fee: $95 for the entire first year.  This includes tone bells, home study notebook, homework assignments, 4 sets of stick puppets, tote bag and two home study CDs.  For additional siblings, materials are only $25 and includes tote bag, puppets, and weekly homework assignments.

LPM Registration Fee: $15 per family per year.

SB Materials $30 per session per family. This includes a songbook, CD, and instrument. There is no SB registration fee at this time.

Childcare: Available for siblings while parents are in select classes of LPM.  Fee is $20/ semester/ child.  The semester fee must be paid in advance.  The childcare room is adjacent to the music room.  The sitter is a neighborhood pre-teen, happy to earn a few dollars.

Missed Classes:  Although there are no refunds or guaranteed make-ups for missed classes, you may attend the missed lesson at a different class time or teacher if space permits.  Weekly emails and the parent handbook will help you know what was missed and what to practice if you do miss.

Curriculum and Homework: Each year we cover 2 comprehensive semesters. Red Balloon and Blue Bugs are covered in year 1 of LPM.  Weekly homework assignments are a fun and age-appropriate way to reinforce class concepts.  They require parent participation for young children to complete.  Sound Beginnings students will cover Black Spiders and Gold Stars material in 2013-14.

Keyboards: Although this is a piano preparation course, you do not need a piano or keyboard at home for the first year (you will have bells at home).  You will need a piano or keyboard for the second and third years of LPM.  We also use an autoharp in class and some parents elect to purchase one for home use.  Some Sound Beginnings families also elect to purchase bells for home use.

Eligible Ages LPM :Students begin LPM during their pre-K , K or 1st grade year (age 4 - 6).  The full program is 3 years long.  After graduation (around age 7-8) students go on to excel with private piano or other instrument instruction.  I will allow a 6 year-old to register, but please consider if your 6 year-old enjoys the playfulness and silliness that defines how I teach. Young 4 year-olds are recommended to consider a year of Sound Beginnings.

Sound Beginnings: Students age 2-4 may participate in any of the 4 non-sequential semesters.  There is no pre-requisite, cumulative curriculum, or required homework (fun home exercises are offered).  A younger sibling may also register and attend.  Sound Beginnings provides excellent preparation for success in LPM.

Orientation: A 45-minute parent-only orientation meeting will be held the first week of September for LPM parents.

Referrals:   Tell your friends about classes, and you get $15 tuition credit for each one who signs up and mentions your name!
